Barb's Bio

Since being introduced to Nia in 2000, I found myself completely drawn in by the joy of movement, freedom of expression, and the concept of 'Dancing through Life' that Nia provided.

Barb has a background in software solutions in the healthcare industry. One day she was contacted by a new Nia teacher who was introducing Nia to London. She thought she would give it a go – nothing to lose right? The smile crept on her face within 5 mins of the class starting and didn't stop until the last beat of the music.

From these initial hesitant feelings of having two left feet and no coordination she discovered that she actually has a left and right foot and over 200 bones in between. Now she loves to dance each and every one of them and share the joy of movement and love of music with her students. Nia is truly for everyBODY.

"I bring an open heart, creativity and curiosity to class, always aiming to inspire students to experience their own joy and personal growth through movement. My goal is to create an environment where students (of all ages and fitness levels) can step into their unlimited potential as they gain body awareness, cardiovascular fitness, achieve healthier bodies, and have fun!"

Even those days when it feels like your body is weighed down by life all it takes is a Nia class to lift your spirits. The energy created in a Nia class is unlike anything I have ever experienced in a fitness environment. Nia helps me connect to my mind and spirit as well as my body.  Nia gives an outlet to creating joy and giving people permission to explore their ability, their fears and their freedom.

Barb completed her White Belt in October 2001.
