Our Classes

Below are descriptions of the classes we are currently offering.

Beginner Yoga Classes

A gentle introduction to the fundamentals of yoga. Elements of the program include detail posture instructions, breath work, and relaxation techniques.

Beginner Hot (BH)

An introduction to a series of foundation postures to heal the body from the inside out.  The room is less hot than standard hot classes but warm enough to achieve cleansing benefits.  Extra attention will be dedicated to education, demonstration and adjustments.

Hot Yoga (HY)

Hot Yoga is a series of yoga postures in a heated room. The room is usually at about 95 degrees. The benefits from the hot room include sweating which rids the body of toxins and with the warmth increases flexibility.

Practice Teaching (PT)

Practice Teaching classes are for the development of new teachers.  Most of these classes are Hot.  Please check "Our Schedule" to find out when they are  being offered.  Members can use their class passes.  The cost for non-members is $5.  To help support new teachers we ask that you take a few minutes after class to complete a feedback form.  Help support our newest teachers.

Sivananda

Sivananda Yoga is classical hatha yoga that emphasizes the 5 points of Yoga as taught by Swami Sivananda and brought to the west by Swami Vishnudevananda. The class is a combination of relaxation and exertion that is the essence of yoga and includes work with the breath(Pranayama), the mind and the body in a way that leaves you feeling both relaxed and rejuvinated, connected to the inner Self.

Karma

This class is by donation to support local charities.  It is a hot class.  Minimum donation $5.

Pre-natal Yoga

Suitable for pregnancy for all stages.  Breathing and relaxation techniques reduce stress and maintain well-being.  Specific postures are instructed to strengthen and tone muscles and to loosen the body in preparation for birth. Nia

Nia offers students a pathway to healing, wholeness, fitness and joy, using the body as a vehicle for  healing. Nia classes are educational, transformational, energetic, interactive, and fun!  For a detailed description of Nia, please visit http://www.nianow.com

Yoga + Meditation Classes

If you are new to meditation and have always wanted to try it out, this is the perfect class for you. We’ll warm up with some yoga and gradually work towards calm relaxation and meditation.

Family Yoga Classes

Our goal is for families to benefit from the positive physical and mental benefits of yoga and stress reduction and most importantly to have FUN together.  Both parents and children have shared with us the numerous positive effects of yoga including an increase in their confidence, mental focus, and overall feelings of calm and happiness. We invite families with children ages 5-12 to join us, and hope that Moms and Dads will participate as well.  For those children attending without parental participation, we ask that parents print and sign the consent form available at the Yoga Shack home page. Adults, feel free to purchase a drop-in pass.  This class is free for unlimited passes and only $7 per child.

Community

Our goal is to provide affordable yoga classes for all students in the community.  Community classes are $5 for those that do not have a membership or pass.  Members and card holders can use them for this class.  Community classes are Hot Yoga classes.
